We’re excited to announce that the ESS asphalt operation in Joplin, MO has joined Hutchens Construction, an Emery Sapp & Sons company. The unification of these two operations will create a fully integrated asphalt paving, baserock installation and aggregate production offering for clients across the Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas region.
Combining the resources of both operations, the integrated teams will draw on their complementary expertise to create a dynamic experience that drives value for our clients. Both operations will maintain their names and continue to operate as a part of the ESS family of brands.
Brandon Finn (pictured left) will continue to lead Hutchens Construction as Vice President and Branch Manager.
To support Finn and the new organizational structure, Tyson Collins (pictured right) has been promoted to Assistant Branch Manager. He will report to Brandon Finn and will continue to serve as the local leader for the Joplin, MO operations. Collins has served as Asphalt Operations Manager at ESS since April 2017.
With 14 years of infrastructure experience, Collins has helped grow ESS’ asphalt capabilities and expanded project and client management efforts. Through his career, Collins has managed more than $250 million worth of infrastructure and asphalt projects. Under Collins leadership, his teams have earned several Missouri Asphalt Pavement Quality in Construction and National Asphalt Pavement Quality in Construction awards, including the distinguished Sheldon G. Hayes Award, the top asphalt award in the nation.
Collins is also a philanthropy champion and continues to invest in the local community. In 2016, Collins, along with his wife Sarah, created the Paisley Collins Memorial Foundation whose mission is to ‘assist families in need with a child diagnosed with cancer with expenses beyond their ability to pay.’ Additionally, he is an active member of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce, Tri-State Contractors Association, Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association, Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association, and Springfield Contractors Association.
