Golfers Came Together to Have Fun and Support The ESS Foundation

For the 4th year in a row, hundreds of golfers came together to have fun and support The ESS Foundation, which is the charitable arm of Emery Sapp & Sons. All funds raised go towards the common goal of developing the future workforce in the construction industry. The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri was the setting for the event. Two sold out flights hit the links to drive the ESS Foundation’s mission to a hole-in one.

The organization’s mission is built upon partnerships among our people, our community and our industry. Funded projects support the Foundation’s three main pillars: promote careers in construction; provide career opportunities through education, mentorship, and training programs; and benefit community development projects. One of the organizations benefiting from the ESS Foundation is North Arkansas College, a two year community college located in Harrison, Arkansas dedicated to giving their construction students on-the-job training.

North Arkansas College Technical Center Director, Scott Howie, says many of the students enrolled in their Construction Equipment Operations Program use those dollars to pay for the added expense associated with the CDL program.

“We are very grateful for the support of the ESS Foundation, the money given helps support students completing the Construction Equipment Operations Program. This program provides individuals the opportunity to gain CDL certification, which will better prepare them for future employment.”

In addition, Howie says the added CDL makes the student more employable and provides employers with a new employee that is more valuable and versatile for the organization. ESS Foundation Board Member, Sara Snodderley, says the ESS Foundation Golf Classic helps fulfill the Foundation’s goal of providing scholarships to students in the construction industry, and  awarding large grants to industry organizations to support their construction workforce efforts.

“In an industry where skilled workers are at a high demand, partnerships are critical so we can continue to educate and build awareness for opportunities within our industry for the incoming workforce.”

Well said, Sara!

The Foundation didn’t stop there. During a happy hour par-tee following the golf tournament, The ESS Foundation presented checks to four organizations, all dedicated to the training and development of individuals interested in beginning or growing their career in construction. Ranken Technical College was presented with 20-thousand dollars. A 10-thousand dollar check went to the Associated Builders & Contractors Heart of America ChapterNorth Arkansas College and Job Point each received 5-thousand dollars from The Foundation to continue their efforts.
