SUPPORTING THE NEXT GEN OF CONSTRUCTION
An industry is only as strong as its next generation of leaders. In 2017, Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) created the ESS Foundation, a nonprofit that supports young professionals interested in pursuing careers in construction. Students are encouraged to explore the field through scholarships, mentorship programs, and community development projects within the region. In 2023, the Foundation presented 28 students with scholarships totaling nearly $44,000. These opportunities wouldn’t be possible without the support received at the annual ESS Foundation Golf Classic, held Oct. 2 in Columbia, Missouri.
The ESS Foundation was honored to present Caydin Englebrecht with the Justin Gay Memorial Scholarship following this year’s golf classic. Caydin received $3,000 to facilitate his pursuit of Electrical Technology at State Technical College of Missouri. This scholarship fund was created in memory of former employee-owner Justin Gay, who tragically died in 2021. Thank you, Caydin, for continuing Justin’s passion for the industry. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and your career!
The award ceremony continued with donations of $5,500 each to the University of Central Missouri’s Construction Management Alumni Association, the State Technical College Construction Department, and the Associated Builders and Contractors to continue their education of craft workers.
With two sold-out flights and a host of incredible sponsors, the support received from clients and partners at the ESS Foundation 6th Annual Golf Classic was palpable. The Club at Old Hawthorne welcomed hundreds of golfers ready to play for a good cause, and we couldn’t have asked for a better event. Thank you to those who attended and supported the ESS Foundation!
