Scope of Work
Of the 45,000 cubic yards of excavation required to open-up the new building footprint, over 14,000 cubic yards was solid rock that had to be mechanically broken due to its proximity to the existing stadium. A 30-foot-deep box culvert was removed and a new one constructed to tie the south end of the existing field to the future building. An engineered slide rail shoring system and multiple trench boxes were utilized to complete this work while preserving the integrity of the football field. Over 2,100 cubic yards of solid rock was mechanically broken and removed from the nearly 7,000 linear feet of utility trench. All the pipe trenches were required to be backfilled in entirety with base rock due to the rocky condition of the existing soils. In addition to soil mitigation issues, ESS installed a 6’x4′ box culvert, 760 linear feet of dual 14″ chilled waterline, 8,000 square yards of 24″ aggregate base building pad, 14,000 square yards of 6″-10″ base rock for paving areas, and 10,000+ square feet of modular block retaining walls.
