Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto

The Bennett Spring Fish Hatchery supplies nearly 400,000 rainbow and brown trout to Bennett Spring and the Missouri State Park system each year. This facility is a vital resource for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) as trout fishing in the state generates more than $187 million annually (according to data from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service). Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) was subcontracted to perform all demolition, utility installation and concrete flatwork for the hatchery’s multi-year renovation.

Although construction is expected to continue through 2025, site preparations for initial earth and utility work are well underway. The renovation began with the four-week installation of a sheet pile coffer dam to provide ESS greater control over the irrigation of Bennett Spring and ensure the safety of our crew. The project is complex for the small footprint of the site. With a high concentration of existing and yet-to-be-installed utilities, meticulous planning is required to keep our crews safe and the project best-in-class.

Upon completing 12,000 cubic yards of earthwork, ESS will place 12,000 linear feet of new underground utilities, ranging from 76” x 48” elliptical concrete pipes to one-inch PVCs. Additional support from our crew will include more than 8,000 square yards of paved concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters. As avid supporters of the angler community, ESS is grateful to assist in the Bennett Spring Fish Hatchery Renovation project.
