Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto

This project is located on a busy stretch of I-17 in Maricopa County. It is one of the main arteries of the Phoenix interstate system. It runs North and South, with an Annual Average Daily Traffic
(AADT) of 186,046 vehicles per day, and varies between four to seven lanes each direction.

The existing current rubber asphalt surface (AR-ACFC) deteriorated and led to major
potholes, incidents, and cracked windshields from the debris generated. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) was seeking an infrastructure contractor who could help lead the rehabilitation of this critical corridor.

In collaboration with our partner company Achen-Gardner Construction (AGC), ESS was awarded the $15.9 million contract. The project encompasses the rehabilitation of Interstate 17 between Dunlap Road and Pinnacle Peek Road. Serving as the general contractor, ESS will perform diamond grinding services, joint sealing, bridge joint rehabilitation, asphalt milling and overlay, and concrete repairs.

Maintaining our commitment to the Phoenix community was a priority on this project. Working hand-in-hand with our local AGC team members, ESS continues to foster relationships with local suppliers and vendors to maximize the use of locally-sourced material and equipment. When emergency repairs are required, our Phoenix-based employee-owners are there to assist.

ADOT requires that the original scope of the project be completed within 340 calendar days. This includes limiting shutdown periods to nights and weekends to reduce disruptions to the traveling public.

ESS is encouraged by the stellar work that has been performed on this project thus far. We maintain our commitment to ADOT and are dedicated to completing this project on time and as promised.

This project is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2023.
