NorthPoint Development selected Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) to be their civil expert for building one of the Southview Commerce Center in Belton, Missouri. This strategically located building allows immediate access to major highway I-49. To deliver the facility on time, NorthPoint looked to partner with a civil construction firm that could provide a robust combination of local talent, equipment, and material resources, consistently deliver high-volume production, and had the available capacity to meet the rigorous speed-to-market schedule.
The Southview Commerce Center Lot 2 is designed to hold a 575,000-square-foot warehouse with adjacent parking. The original turnover date was in January 2021 and ESS proposed an accelerated schedule by almost two months. Project team employee-owners of all trades rallied their experience and put together a plan that was presented to NorthPoint for their approval. The greatest challenge for this project was the time of year with a wet spring. Even with the uncontrollable obstacles, ESS was able to turn the excavation over several days earlier than anticipated.
