Bolivar Street Resurfacing

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) was awarded the $904,900 contract by the City of Bolivar in early 2022 to resurface roadways throughout the community. This project was an integral part of a larger road resurfacing initiative taking place across the City of Bolivar.

The Bolivar Street Resurfacing project posed two main challenges for the team. The first challenge was due to the volume of diverse improvements located on various streets throughout the City of Bolivar. The team developed a complex mobilization strategy to streamline equipment placement and logistics to maintain daily production requirements.

In addition to mobilization challenges, the team was also faced with specific mix requirements that included Forta-Fibers. The use of Forta-Fibers in the production of the asphalt creates stronger durability and reduces maintenance of the roads. While this mix offers long-term benefits, it can slow down placement of asphalt when handwork is required. Our asphalt plant team developed a mix design that met the Forta-Fibers requirement. In the hands of a veteran crew, the team crafted an expert installation method to eliminate potential delays.

Innovation and collaboration among our paving, milling, and asphalt plant crews was the driver behind ESS’ ability to deliver big results on this project. Our asphalt teams worked diligently to ensure a high-quality project resulting in improved infrastructure and safer driving conditions for the local community and traveling public.
