Paul Moody: Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 recipient

At Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS), we dig hard work, community and leadership. Paul Moody exemplifies each of these values, day after day. We’re thrilled to announce that Paul has been recognized as part of the 2025 Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 class. It’s not just about his age; it’s about his impact. Paul has been crushing it ever since he joined ESS as an intern in 2007.

From his early days in job cost analysis to his current leadership role as assistant vice president, Paul’s career is a testament to growth, determination and being there for his team. He’s constantly finding ways to support both the company and the community. It’s his grit that earned him a spot on the 40 Under 40 list.

“In the 17 years Paul has been with our company, he has become one of the top up-and-coming

leaders of our organization,” said Jason Rode, executive vice president. “His character and unwavering commitment to his company and the Springfield community make him well-deserving of the 40 Under 40 recognition.”

Leading with a purpose

Paul leads through a competitive spirit and genuine commitment to supporting those around him. His approach is all about ownership and accountability.

When we took on projects like the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport and Mercy Healthcare System, Paul managed key client relationships, often before his official promotion to project manager. He was vital to fostering strong, lasting partnerships. His hands-on approach and ability to identify and tackle challenges head-on have built our success in the Southwest Missouri region.

Beyond the projects, Paul fosters a culture of ownership and pride within his team through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), ensuring every team member feels invested in the company’s success. He has helped build a culture where employee-owners understand the direct connection between their work and the wealth they generate for the company.

“I believe that true leadership is about empowering others to take responsibility for their decisions and building an environment where my teams and others feel personally invested in our collective achievements,” said Paul.

Giving back

When Paul isn’t at the office, he’s putting his time and energy into Springfield area youth programs. In the past, he has helped coach his son’s local baseball and basketball teams. He is an active member of the local sports booster club, helping raise funds and promote opportunities for youth athletics.

Kudos, Paul

We’re incredibly proud to have Paul on our team and can’t wait to see where he goes next. Congratulations, Paul! You’ve earned it.
