Each year, we have three new inductees into the Blue Bloods. These employee-owners are the embodiment of what it means to “bleed blue” through their daily hard work and commitment to the company.
What does it really take to be a Blue Blood Award recipient?
- Minimum of 5 years of service with our company
- Show pride in Emery Sapp & Sons and a talent for mentoring and developing their colleagues
- Take pride in their work and consistently strive for excellence
- Conduct themselves in alignment with our core values, the 5Ps: People, Purpose, Partnership, Passion, Performance
Introducing our Class of 2023 Blue Bloods!
Phil Divine: Paving Superintendent
Since his start with Emery Sapp in 1984, Phil has shown what it takes to be a tried and true Blue Blood. His mentorship and guidance build a culture of hard work and passion for every project. Thank you for all you do, Phil.
Chip Jones: Vice President – Heavy Highway
For 24 years, Chip has been a positive force at ESS. Always having the best interest of his employee-owners, the company, and our clients made him a Blue Blood, even without the official title. Congratulations, Chip – you deserve it!
Pete Grathwohl (1956-2023): Executive Vice President and Board of Directors
A committed colleague, trusted mentor, and devoted friend. Pete was the original Blue Blood. He set the tone of getting stuff done while having a good time and building our company culture. Pete’s passing was felt by all employee-owners, but he will forever be part of the Emery Sapp legacy.
