Safety is a way of life here at ESS, and we wanted to recognize a team who has been living out this motto daily. Congratulations to our employee-owners of Hutchens Construction, An Emery Sapp & Sons Company (Hutchens) on earning our Quarter Three Safety Award. This award goes to the region who scores the highest on their overall safety performance. During quarter three, Hutchens exemplified what it means to promote a positive safety culture and collectively delivered a top notch safety performance. This significant accolade earns each member of the team a branded t-shirt and a Bass Pro gift card!

“The Hutchens branch had the lowest total incident rate out of all of our branches this last quarter. From top down they are very good at what they do. The quality is there whether it be their work zone setups, equipment setups or PPE. We are very excited to be able to present them with the Quarter Three Safety Award and proud to have Hutchens as a part of the ESS family,” said Kyle Osweiler, Safety Coordinator.

As a part of our integration strategy, it was important that we reinvigorate our safety efforts and be laser-focused on promoting safety excellence across all current and new operations. Tyson Collins, Assistant Vice President stated that, “this is a big deal for the Hutchens branch as they just joined the ESS family in 2019. We are proud of the work our teams have done, and their ability to step up to the plate when it comes to safety.

While our crews use industry-leading tech tools to measure and maintain best-in-class safety performances, we recognize that a true safety culture is built by our teams over time; hour-by-hour and day-by-day. As employee-owners, our team members have a vested interest in owning their job, promoting safe work, and managing our risk. We approach our work focused on safety, quality, and production – in that order. When we do this, our ESOP and our employee-owners reap the benefits!
