Meet the Crew
Our diverse and highly skilled crews are what help ESS continually be the industry leader in civil construction. Our employee-owners constantly go to work and produce best-in-class results each day.
This month, one of our Hutchens asphalt crews is working on infrastructure improvements to Highway 59 in Watts, Oklahoma. Working for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), ESS will transform the roadway into a 5-lane highway with paved shoulders, new curbs and gutters, and replace two bridge structures and a variable center turn lane. This Hutchens asphalt crew will be the go-to guys for our paving needs throughout this $14.4 million project.
Richard (Buddy) Johnson, Paving Superintendent has been leading this crew for 16 years. When asked what makes him most proud of his crew Buddy said, “Their loyalty and dedication to getting the job done is something I am extremely proud of. They can put in an eighty-five hour work week, and then be ready to go the next morning.”
At ESS, we like to think of our culture as more of a family rather than just people who work together. Buddy and his crew can attest to that theory. “We work long hours together. During the season we tend to spend more time with each other than we do at home. Like any family, we have our disagreements, but at the end of the day we are always looking out for each other too,” said Buddy.
This asphalt crew consists of dedicated employee-owners who work hard, and continue to prove that at ESS, it is more than just a job…..it’s a career.
