Taking Leadership to the Top: 2024 Supervisor Summit
Strong leadership is often more difficult to maintain than it is to establish. Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) believes even the most well-oiled machines require a fervent commitment to the continual growth of each leader. The 2024 Supervisor Summit, held Feb. 1-2, provided all ESS leaders with the opportunity to build and expand upon the tools they use with their crews every day.
For the second year in a row, hundreds of employee-owners flooded the Kansas City Marriott to attend specialized training and professional development sessions tailored to strengthening their leadership skills. Employee-owners received insight on a range of relevant topics including conflict resolution, proactive communication, effective feedback and ESOP education.
Thursday kicked off with specialized field technology training and a general session, and Friday’s breakout sessions were led by Garth Massey, Colonel USMCR, founder of CommandReady; Hans Onderbeke, leadership solutions associate with Center for Creative Leadership; and Wally Adamchik, president and founder of Firestarter Speaking and Consulting.
The summit concluded with the presentation of the 2024 Lance Trager Memorial Safety Award to Charlie Dowell, field operations manager with the ESS Heavy Highway branch.
