Emery Sapp & Sons and The ESS Foundation pledge $50,000 to Northland Career Center
Emery Sapp & Sons and The ESS Foundation announce their commitment to support the Northland Career Center’s capital campaign with a total donation of $50,000 over the next five years.
Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS), a local infrastructure contractor, conducts workforce outreach through The ESS Foundation, its employee-owner-led nonprofit organization. Through the organization, ESS promotes the construction industry and supports community development projects. The ESS Foundation pledged $25,000 and Emery Sapp and Sons matched the pledge to total $50,000. With this contribution, ESS and the Foundation aim to support the Northland Career Center’s vocational education and the exposure to various construction careers it provides.
The Northland Career Center, a public, nonprofit career and technical education school, is currently undertaking the construction of the Northland Workforce Development Center (NWDC). Located on a 19-acre centralized location near the Clay-Platte county line, the new, state-of-the-art career center will serve more than 1,200 students. This project aims to empower students with the necessary equipment, skills and knowledge to thrive in today’s competitive workforce.
ESS Director of Human Resource Operations Sara Snodderley recognized the pivotal role the Northland Career Center plays in shaping future ESSemployee-owners:
“We are thrilled to support the Northland Career Center’s capital campaign and contribute to the development of their new facility that will empower students to explore career opportunities,” she said. “The ESS Foundation invests in initiatives that foster growth for our future workforce, and we’re confident this partnership will have a meaningful impact on our community.”
The donation was presented at a special ceremony on Monday, May 6 at the Northland Career Center in Platte City, with a ceremonial check presentation. This event served as a celebration of partnership and collaboration between Emery Sapp & Sons and the Northland Career Center, highlighting their shared commitment to advancing education development initiatives in the region.
“We are grateful for Emery Sapp & Sons’ generous donation to the NWDC capital campaign,” said Jeff Green, director of the Northland Career Center. “This investment will expand educational and training opportunities for high school students and adults in the Northland, significantly adding to the region’s workforce and ensuring a continuous growth in skilled workers.”
