ESS IS HONORED WITH THREE NATIONAL AWARDS
Emery Sapp & Sons took home three national awards for infrastructure projects in both Missouri and Kansas at the recent 2023 Excellence in Concrete Paving Awards. The ceremony was part of the 60th annual meeting of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA), held Dec. 12-14 in Marco Island, Florida.
Honoring the best concrete pavements constructed in the United States and Canada, the awards encourage and recognize high-quality workmanship by contractors, engineers and project owners in every concrete pavement project.
Emery Sapp & Sons was honored with two Gold awards and one Silver award in three different categories:
Gold:
- Industrial Paving category: Old Dominion Freight Line (Bonner Springs, Kansas)
- State Roads category: US 169 (Neosho/Allen Counties, Kansas)
Silver:
- Divided Highways (Urban) category: I-44 Pavement Replacement at 744/Mulroy Road (Springfield, Missouri)
Chad Bird, superintendent; Andy Svehla, project manager; Ryan Grathwohl, paving operations manager; and Kyle Frye, quality control manager traveled to Florida to accept the awards on behalf of Emery Sapp & Sons.
“These awards certainly carry a level of prestige within the industry, and we were honored to accept recognition for these amazing projects,” said Bird. “We had tremendous partners on both the public and private side, and feel grateful to have played a role in building the infrastructure that strengthens the Midwest.”
