Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto
With the most competitive bid, ESS was awarded this $14.4 million Highway 59 project in Watts, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation proposed a 5-lane roadway with paved shoulders, new curbs, and gutters, the replacement of two bridge structures, and a variable center turn lane.
This three-mile-long project widened Highway US-59 from two to four lanes and included the demolition and reconstruction of two bridges. Earthwork consisted of 400,000 cubic yards of rock blasting, 350,000 cubic yards of unclassified excavation, and 148,000 square yards of lime stabilization. During construction, ESS developed a value engineering (VE) alternative to eliminate a deep box culvert. ESS teams replaced it with a more effective drainage design that accelerated the schedule and resulted in cost savings.
