Casey’s Distribution Center

In 2019, ESS was awarded the contract to be the turn-key civil site contractor for the 34-acre Casey’s General Store Distribution Center in Joplin, Missouri. ESS was contracted by Casey’s to help develop the 250,000 square foot location because of our consistency in delivering speed-to-market projects. Time was of the essence with this project, and we were able to promise the fastest delivery. This will be the third distribution center for the Iowa based convenience store. This distribution center will service as a hub for 400 to 600 local Casey’s locations, and provide over 125 jobs.

Scope of Work
The owner chose ESS as their civil site-work expert because they needed this project delivered at an exceptionally fast rate. ESS proposed an aggressive schedule of just 40 working days to complete the earthwork required to be pad ready (ready for slab & footings) and 100 working days to complete the utilities (storm, water, sanitary sewer, fire line, and MOAM water line). During this fast paced construction, ESS did over 265,000 cubic yards of excavation, clearing and grubbing, stabilization of building pads, on-site water utilities, on-site sanitary sewer service and on-site stormwater. Even though speed was the ultimate goal, our teams faced rough winter weather. Since a majority of the project was large dirt work, the winter mix posed a few difficulties. ESS however was able to beat production, despite these challenges and produce a quality final product for our clients.
