Project Overview
Set in the mountains of western Arkansas, the Trails at Mena project is set to become one of the most significant outdoor recreation developments in the country. When complete, the multi-phase development will be the largest lift-served mountain bike park in the world.
Built for year-round adventure, the project will feature purpose-built trail systems and infrastructure designed to support riders of all skill levels, with miles of trails and supporting amenities planned across the mountainside. And Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) is helping shape that vision from the very beginning.
ESS has been a partner since the outset, working alongside Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Parks and Recreation Foundation, the City of Mena, U.S. Forest Service, General Contractor Kinco Constructors, and the design team as plans evolve. This ongoing collaboration allows ESS to bring construction expertise directly into the design process, helping refine infrastructure layouts, improve constructability, and address challenges before construction begins.
ESS is currently supporting Phase I, which includes approximately 1.4 miles of trail and nearly 1,170 feet of elevation gain, and is well positioned to play a long-term role as the development progresses. This initial phase focuses on establishing the foundational infrastructure needed to support future trail development and year-round visitation. Initial work began with clearing timber and vegetation in preparation for construction. As future phases advance, ESS expects to provide a wide range of civil construction services, including earthwork, underground utilities, foundations, concrete, paving, landscaping, and other critical infrastructure.
Through its continued involvement, ESS is helping lay a strong foundation for both the project’s initial success and its long-term growth. As the Trails at Mena expands, ESS remains a key partner in bringing one of Arkansas’ most ambitious outdoor recreation projects to life.
