Project Overview
This confidential project is part of a large-scale energy development designed to generate 150 megawatts of clean, renewable solar energy to multiple counties in Kentucky. Spanning across 770 acres, this project uses Photovoltaic solar to generate renewable energy critical to the counties. ESS was selected to perform key aspects of the project, including 357,259 CY of grading & excavation, installing 1,930 LF of storm water utilities, and constructing 76,555 SY of new access roads.
One of the key challenges of the project was navigating a wet spring and periods of extreme temperatures. Despite these conditions, the team maintained exceptional productivity to complete the project on time. ESS mobilized multiple crews and worked closely with the client to keep work progressing and meet project goals. This coordination and communication have been essential to the success of the project.
A key feature of this project was the implementation of GPS grade control systems on our tractors and pans onsite. The GPS uses satellite positioning combined with sensors on the equipment to guide and grade the tractors and pans. This addition improved speed and accuracy across the site.
ESS brought significant value to this project through its relationship with the client, having previously partnered with them on successful solar projects. This established collaboration contributed to strong communication and efficient execution.
The ESS team has worked together on multiple solar projects, fostering a cohesive and highly effective working environment. Despite being located far from home and facing various project challenges, the crew remained committed to delivering quality results.
