Project Overview

The MoDOT Greene County Route MM Improvements project is reshaping one of Greene County’s fastest-growing corridors to deliver safer travel, improved connectivity, and infrastructure built to support future growth. Extending from Farm Road 160 to Stone Creek Drive in Republic, MO, the project addresses increasing traffic volumes while eliminating several at-grade railroad crossings that have long posed safety and congestion challenges.

ESS was selected as the General Contractor to construct approximately two miles of new roadway, widening portions of Route MM to four lanes, and building a new bridge over the BNSF Railroad to separate rail and vehicle traffic. The project also includes a new roundabout at Farm Road 160, intersection improvements along US 60, raised medians, pedestrian trails, sidewalks, and enhanced access throughout the corridor.

Behind the scenes, ESS is tackling several complex construction challenges including the relocation of a 161-kV electrical transmission line to accommodate bridge clearances in addition to installing soil improvements and wick drains to provide a stable foundation for the new roadway.

When complete, the project will close three existing railroad crossings, reduce delays, improve traffic flow, and create a safer and more direct route for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Beyond transportation benefits, the improvements will support continued residential and commercial growth in Republic and the surrounding area.

Scheduled for completion in May 2028, the Route MM Improvements project is a major investment in the region’s future—improving safety, easing congestion, and creating a transportation corridor designed to serve the community for decades to come.
