Project Overview

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) is providing turnkey civil construction services for the Liberty Commons residential development in Independence, Missouri, helping prepare the site for a new single-family neighborhood. Working for repeat client Calara Group, ESS is constructing the underground sanitary sewer and stormwater infrastructure, along with curb and gutter, asphalt paving, sidewalks, and other site civil improvements that will serve 123 residential lots.

As one of the first new residential subdivisions developed in Independence in years, the project is helping expand housing opportunities while delivering the essential infrastructure needed to support long-term community growth.

One of the project's most significant challenges is navigating the approval process to blast rock on site. After a three-month effort, ESS secured the first blasting approval for a residential development in Independence in more than 20 years, allowing crews to overcome difficult subsurface conditions and maintain project momentum. The achievement highlights ESS' ability to solve complex site challenges while delivering high-quality civil infrastructure for growing communities.
