Project Overview

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) is laying the groundwork for the Stone Ridge 2nd Plat project, an 80-lot single-family residential development located at the corner of 83rd Street and Cedar Niles Road in Lenexa, Kansas. This work represents a key phase within a broader mixed residential neighborhood, blending both single-family and multifamily housing across multiple adjoining plats.

Building on their successful completion of Stone Ridge’s first plat, the ESS team is delivering full public infrastructure improvements complete with new streets, stormwater systems and streetlighting to serve the growing neighborhood. Crews are widening the existing pavement and grading roadside ditches along 83rd Street to accommodate a new dedicated left-turn lane, ultimately improving access and safety for residents entering the subdivision.

Earthwork operations form a major component of this work, totaling 142,000 cubic yards of dirt excavation and 2,000 cubic yards of rock excavation. The project also features an extensive network of underground utilities. ESS is installing a 200-linear-foot 6x6 double reinforced concrete box culvert (RCB) with wing walls to manage stormwater flow throughout the site. Additional utilities include 7,400 linear feet of sanitary sewer and 13,605 linear feet of storm sewer to support future homes in the plat.

The team is also managing paving and concrete work, completing 14,640 square yards of asphalt paving and 17,930 square yards of cement-treated base. Concrete improvements include 10,230 linear feet of curb and gutter and 13,230 square feet of pedestrian sidewalk, contributing to the walkability and long-term functionality of the neighborhood.

Through a combination of mass grading, underground utility installation, roadway construction, and public infrastructure enhancements, ESS is delivering a complete and resilient foundation for the Stone Ridge and greater Lenexa communities.
