Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto

As the largest project ever contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT), the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville, St. Charles & Warren Counties Design-Build marks a historic $600 million investment in transportation infrastructure and public safety. The Improve 70 Alliance project team, a joint venture between Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) and Clarkson Construction Company (Clarkson) in association with HNTB Corporation (HNTB) and Barlett & West, Inc. (B&W), is working together to modernize and expand the state’s most critical corridor.

With an average daily traffic volume of more than 60,000 vehicles, I-70 requires significant enhancements to the integrity of its roadways, bridges, shoulders and interchanges. The joint venture team will replace the existing lanes and shoulders from Warrenton to I-64 in Wentzville with full-depth concrete pavement. A third traffic lane will be constructed in both directions along I-70 as well as I-64 traveling eastbound and westbound between I-70 and Route K. Crews will demolish the existing railroad bridge and place a temporary structure in its place before constructing an all-new bridge on I-70 between Wentzville and Route Z. Further improvements include upgrades to the interchange at I-70 and I-64/Route 61 and the outer roads in Foristell, Wright City, Warrenton and Route Z.

Minimizing our impact on residents and businesses is always a top priority. The Improve 70 Alliance team is committed to preventing disruption by maintaining two open lanes of traffic in each direction throughout construction. A Smart Work Zone system will also communicate updates within the work zone to drivers in real-time, ensuring the safety of everyone on the road. This team is dedicated to creating a safe and efficient interstate for generations of Missourians to enjoy.

The milestone project breaks ground in Spring 2025 is expected to be completed in 2028 as one of eight project segments across the state in MODOT’s Improve I-70 Program.
