Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto
This confidential project is an innovative renewable energy initiative that is set to provide up to 200 megawatts of clean solar energy to several counties in Arkansas. Spanning approximately 1,100 acres, this project is a significant step forward in the region’s renewable energy efforts. Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) has been entrusted with key aspects of the project, including the delivery of 96,000 cubic yards of grading as well as the construction of 70,310 square yards of on-site roads and 18,583 square yards of off-site access roads.
One of the key challenges of the project has been the aggressive schedule. Despite contending with wet conditions on low-lying, flood-prone land, ESS is staying ahead of schedule. ESS began work in April of 2024, focusing on site development, which included grading, establishing site access, building access roads, preparing inverter pads, and completing the substation pad. This initial phase was successfully completed by mid-August. Once the general contractor, Moss & Associates, finishes their portion of the project, ESS will return to complete the final stages, including placing a two-inch cap on all access roads, finalizing inverter pads with rock capping, and removing temporary staging areas.
The project team has excelled in prioritizing safety and has completed their work to date without injuries or major equipment incidents. A significant safety challenge is the high volume of work on-site, requiring crews to share space with other contractors, equipment, and vehicles. Diligent pre-planning and communication amongst our crews and other contractors have been vital in ensuring workers stay safe while performing their work. The project team’s strong safety culture has enabled ESS to deliver a quality product while ensuring everyone goes home safely.
Operations are scheduled to begin by the end of 2025. The project represents more than just a solar farm – it stands as a major capital investment in Arkansas.
