Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) is leading the $12.7 million rehabilitation of 16.8 miles of I-16/SR 404 in Emanuel and Treutlen counties, one of Georgia’s critical transportation corridors. Selected by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), ESS is performing 605,942 square yards of diamond grinding, 879,054 linear feet of joint sealing, and 1,772 square yards of concrete patching to enhance pavement performance and driver safety.

Implementing a comprehensive pavement preservation strategy, ESS combines diamond grinding to restore smoothness, joint sealing to prevent water infiltration, and targeted concrete patching to address localized distress. This approach ensures long-term durability and improves commuter ride quality.

ESS is overcoming the challenge of minimizing traffic disruptions on this vital highway by deploying high-efficiency grinding and sealing equipment and leveraging advanced scheduling techniques. Innovations include using environmentally friendly processes to manage slurry waste and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Safety remains a top priority throughout the project. ESS has established secure work zones with clear signage, lighting for night operations, and traffic management plans to maintain safe passage for vehicles and crews. These measures are reducing potential hazards in this busy corridor.

Executing the project on a tight timeline, ESS has employed phased construction and is working during off-peak hours to minimize disruptions. The efficient coordination of resources and crews enables steady progress and keeps the project on track for timely completion.
