Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto

Emery Sapp & Sons has commenced work on a $5.4-million construction venture aimed at expanding Dean’s Trail for the City of Springdale. The construction effort entails the extension of a 1.5-mile multi-use trail, following the completion of Phase I by ESS three years prior.

The project, which kicked off in October 2023, spans 1.5 miles from Highway 412 to Don Tyson Parkway and is slated for completion by fall 2024. Marked as Phase 3A of the City’s trail expansion blueprint, this extension will bolster the trail network across Northwest Arkansas, enhancing connectivity for residents from downtown Springdale to the Razorback Greenway Trail and beyond. This initiative aligns with the broader vision to link Springdale with Fayetteville and the Razorback Greenway Trail in subsequent phases.

ESS collaborated closely with engineers and city officials, proposing a Value Engineering (VE) solution that nixed a box culvert, resulting in savings more than $275,000 for the City. Within the narrow trail corridor, traversing areas near schools, roadways, and high drainage zones, the team executed earthwork construction spanning 1.5 miles. Employing machine concrete paving techniques also expedited the schedule. The enhancements feature a 12-foot-wide concrete trail coupled with storm drainage upgrades. Additionally, lighting and fencing installations along the trail enhance safety for travelers. Notably, stringent safety protocols were enforced, especially given the proximity to a school, necessitating site-specific measures for roadway closures and robust traffic control during construction.
