The Village at Discovery Park

The City of Lee’s Summit, MO will soon welcome a new 286-acre mixed-use development known as the Village at Discovery Park. This exciting addition to the city’s infrastructure will provide an assortment of commercial spaces for local residents, including retail, entertainment, dining, hospitality, and general and medical facilities. The village will also include a residential area with luxury multi-family housing.

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) was selected as the General Contractor to perform the preliminary earthwork, utility installation, roadway rehabilitation, and roundabout construction for this project. Upon completion in the Fall of 2024, ESS crews will have completed nearly 800,000 CY of earthwork and paved more than 20,000 SY of concrete.

Of the challenges identified thus far, the most daunting remains the 7 ft. by 13 ft. box culvert requiring installation beneath the center of the jobsite. Maintaining proper drainage is crucial when working with materials this large, so crews will install and manage a temporary drainage system until work is completed.

After years of creating outstanding projects with our Columbia branch, The Village at Discovery Park marks the beginning of a new partnership between Intrinsic Development and our Kansas City team. This project will contribute to the City of Lee’s Summit for decades to come, and ESS was honored to be part of it.
