Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto
In anticipation of Route 67 becoming a future interstate, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) slated nearly 28 miles of 4-lane highway for complete concrete pavement rehabilitation. With the competitive bid, ARDOT awarded Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) the $25 million pavement preservation contract for Route 67 in Jackson and White Counties.
ESS was challenged to rehabilitate the existing highway and improve the smoothness of the ride through diamond grinding and a variety of other methods and processes.
Collectively our crews replaced faulted concrete panels, re-sealed all pavement joints, managed the repair and overlay of 18 bridge decks, undersealed voids beneath the pavement, replaced asphalt shoulders throughout the project, placed new pavement markings, and performed all clearing and grubbing in the Right-of-Way throughout the project corridor.
A large scope of the project was performed in a 1-lane work zone. This required a high level of collaboration, commitment, detailed planning and constant communication. ESS coordinated daily with our subcontractors and partners that were working concurrently in the corridor to sequence work effectively and maximize the speed of construction.
This project commanded the support of 8 crews over the span of 2 years. With their commitment, ESS completed this project as promised and improved the overall ride satisfaction by 64%.
