Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto
Capitalizing on the Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) concrete plant and resources available from a recently completed project at Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), the ESS team submitted a successful bid for this infrastructure improvement project at the Springfield-Branson National Airport. The project included the complete reconstruction of Taxiway U from Runway 20 to south of Taxiway B. Crews also constructed the Runway 20 Blast Pad and completed pavement repairs along Runway 2-10 and Taxiway U from south of Taxiway B to Runway 14-32.
Like many aviation projects, this taxiway greatly benefited from the precision and efficiency of our stringless concrete paver. The team used track hoes and over-the-road dump trucks to perform grading operations and pavement removal. The cement-treated permeable base (CTPB) was installed with a Vogele Paver and the 17-inch concrete pavement was slip formed with a G&Z Paver. To maximize the team’s performance, a contract plant and pug mill were set up on-site throughout the duration of the project. Additional scopes of work were managed by the team and included the construction of taxiway lighting, signing, and pavement markings. This project was delivered within 180 days.
