ARDOT Gravette to Pea Ridge Overlay

Highway 72 is the critical link connecting Pea Ridge and the surrounding county with the fast-growing city of Bentonville, Arkansas. With major employers such as the Walmart Headquarters in Bentonville, Highway 72 experiences high levels of daily commuter travel. For the safety of the residents and commuters, the cracked, aging road was in need of an update. Road repairs called for an overlay of more than 13 miles of Highway 72.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) selected Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) for the job. Preventing construction-related traffic delays was vital given the role this highway plays in the daily commute of many Pea Ridge and Bentonville residents. To keep operations and travelers moving, ESS maintained at least one open lane at all times and completed most of the project at night.

ESS crews delivered 420,000 tons of asphalt pavement in just three months, providing the community of Bentonville with safer, smoother roads.
