Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) was awarded this $14.6 million bridge replacement and interchange improvement project by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). In addition to reconstructing the existing bridge over I-70, this project will also include two new roundabouts specifically designed to accommodate large trucks and farm machinery in the region. Each roundabout is 172 feet by 212 feet with an 18-foot truck apron.

MoDOT conducted a study in 2005 to examine the longevity of the Missouri Route 19 bridge over Interstate 70. Since that time, updated designs have been developed to meet the current and future needs of traffic in the area. ESS is working closely with MoDOT to ensure these plans be enacted according to their vision.

This hefty project was divided into six phases, allowing crews to better manage the various scopes of work in a timely manner. Commuters will begin using the new bridge when phase four begins and will witness the removal of the existing bridge during phase six. The MoDOT Montgomery County Route 19 bridge reconstruction project is expected to be complete by the end of 2023.
