NEW Core Values: The 5Ps
In case you haven’t heard, 2022 is a big year for us! No, we’re not talking about our backlog or the fact that we turned 50 this year — but all that is still pretty cool too. We’re talking about something that will have a different, yet significant impact on our employee-owners, partners, and communities. *Cue the ribbon cutting.* We’ve got new core values!
Why the switch up? In all transparency, we’ve grown tremendously over the years in every aspect of the company. Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) is not what we were 50 years ago. As a matter of fact, we’re stronger. It’s a milestone year as we’ve reached more than 1,800 employee-owners throughout ten regions across the country within our four strong brands. And so, it was time to reevaluate and reimagine these powerful vitals called “core values” that reflect the way we operate and shape our path for the future.
Where did they come from? Our Executive Management Team at ESS led the way for the conceptualization of these new values. Several rounds of revisions and research were performed to identify what properly defines us as a company and depicts where we’re headed. After some time, the 5Ps were born. Although we established these values at the strategic and operational level, it turns out our new values ring true to how we already operate as an organization. These values have existed within our family ever since the beginning, and you will see why below.
We call them “The 5Ps”.
We are employee-owners. Driven to create best-in-class experiences, we put people first. It starts with us.
“It was imperative that our employee-owners were a part of our new core values. After all, our people are the foundation of the company and an asset that cannot be found anywhere else.” – Amy Allen, Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel.
We exist to change lives through employee ownership and transform communities through the infrastructure we build.
“Our values are all connected. Not only does purpose speak volumes of why we do things the way we do at Emery Sapp, but it’s evidence of how we continue to succeed as a team.” – Dan Hoover, Executive Vice President of Finance.
We build and invest in long-term relationships. We are accountable partners to each other, our clients, and the communities where we live and work.
“Partnership is everything to us. That’s how it’s always been since the company was founded by my father, Billy Sapp in 1972. We couldn’t do it alone. Being good neighbors and fostering a collaborative atmosphere — that’s what you can expect from ESS.” – Shawn Sapp, Executive Vice President of Operations
Powered by employee ownership, we are inspired leaders and innovators determined to deliver our best to every project.
“The passion that you will witness here at ESS is unmatched. We’re invested in the projects we build, and we take pride in our ownership at all levels of the organization.” – Tim Paulson, Co-Chief Executive Officer
Safety, quality, and speed of delivery are at the core of what drives us. We work together to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
“Our clients count on us to deliver. It’s why they choose us and underpins the foundation of our reputation. We provide high-quality performance and best-in-class results. Performance at Emery Sapp is a commitment from everyone on board.” – Robert Gillis, Co-Chief Executive Officer
Well, there you have it, folks. The 5Ps. In that order. It’s how we continue to keep things this awesome. Cheers to a healthy backlog, 50 years, and a new set of formidable core values!
