Project Overview

NorthPoint Development selected Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) as their civil expert for building one of the Southview Commerce Center in Belton, Missouri. This strategically located building allows immediate access to major highway I-49. To deliver the facility on time, NorthPoint looked to partner with a civil construction firm that could provide a robust combination of local talent, equipment, and material resources, consistently deliver high-volume production, and had the available capacity to meet the rigorous speed-to-market schedule.

The Southview Commerce Center Lot 2 is designed to hold a 575,000-square-foot warehouse with adjacent parking. The original turnover date was in January 2021 and ESS proposed an accelerated schedule by almost two months. Project team employee-owners of all trades rallied their experience and put together a plan that was presented to NorthPoint for their approval. The greatest challenge for this project was the time of year with a wet spring. Even with the uncontrollable obstacles, ESS was able to turn the excavation over several days earlier than anticipated.

Upon completion, ESS delivered more than 750,000 cubic yards of grading and excavation and nearly 8,200 square yards of concrete pavement.
