Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) was contracted to rehabilitate a stretch of highway in Delaware County, Oklahoma. This project was designed to significantly improve the longevity of this particular stretch of highway. Due to the structure of this portion of the highway, the project team decided to use the notched wedge method, which is a tapered longitudinal joint. The premise behind this particular technique is to increase the longevity of the road in question.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) contracted ESS knowing that we are experts in the field. The ESS crew had never performed the notched wedge technique before this project, so one of the many challenges they had to overcome was learning a whole new piece of equipment in a matter of hours in order to finish this project on time.

Mid-July also brings a host of difficulties such as weekend lake traffic. Project teams worked tirelessly to make sure they controlled the immense amount of traffic at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 25. Ultimately, the team clearly directed traffic and delivered this project under budget and on time.
