Project OverviewDescripción del proyecto
Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) was the general contractor for the $9.7 million dollar widening of Route 14. The MoDOT Route 14 Christian project consists of expanding the road to five lanes between 32nd Street west of U.S. Route 65 and the Finley River bridge. A difficulty that our crews had to work around was the relocation of over 9,500 linear feet of underground utilities. This meant that the expansion of the highway lanes had to come to a halt while underground utilities were being relocated. Although this was a major factor to our schedule, ESS was aware of this possibility and was prepared to find alternative ways to keep the project on track and stay productive. Another significant challenge was the construction of the two-pedestrian underpass across Route 14. ESS crews worked 24/7 from the time they shut down Route 14 on a Friday night to the time they opened it back up on Sunday. The traffic management and safety protocols that took place all while working as quickly and efficiently as possible allowed ESS to complete the project on time and on budget.
