A Dynamic Trio: Landwehr, Moody and Mann Join Springfield Leadership Team
We are excited to announce the promotions of three employee-owners to our Springfield leadership team. Effective January 1st, Chris Landwehr and Paul Moody will serve as Assistant Vice Presidents and Ron Mann as Assistant Operations Manager. Collectively, this trio of talent has more than 45 years of experience with Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS). Under the direction of Jason Rode, Vice President, this team will support our continued growth, drive our long-term vision for the region, and play a key role in inspiring and leading the next generation of employee-owners.
“These three employee-owners have driven remarkable results, both for our clients and for our company,” said Jason Rode, Vice President. “Securing this level of talent in these critical roles will no doubt take Springfield’s momentum to the next level. I couldn’t be more excited about our team and the future.”
ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT
As Assistant Vice President, Chris Landwehr will be responsible for all aspects of pre-construction for the Springfield team including business development, pursuit management, and estimating. Chris has been in the industry for more than two decades and joined ESS as a project manager with the Columbia team in 2007. Chris is known for his impeccable people skills and infectious personality. He is trusted amongst his peers for having a handshake you can count on. Under his leadership, our teams have delivered notable projects such as: Nifong Boulevard Improvements, CRA Runway 2-20 Repairs and Missouri American Water Southwest Boulevard.
Chris will relocate to Springfield, Missouri in March 2021. He is excited to have his family join him in 2022 after his daughter finishes high school. Chris is known for his dedication to the community and looks forward to furthering our relationships with our industry partners.
Chris shared, “There is so much momentum around the Springfield team. This is an incredible opportunity. I look forward to joining their team and conquering any challenges we face.”
ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT
In his new role as Assistant Vice President, Paul Moody will be responsible for project management, field operations, and workforce utilization. Paul joined ESS in 2008 as a project manager and estimating intern. Proving to be a valuable asset to the team, he was hired as a full time employee as a project manager and job cost analyst. At the time of his hire, Paul was only the fourth employee-owner on the Springfield team. Since then, he has played a key role in growing the local team to more than 140 employee-owners strong. Paul is known for outstanding work and has led keynote projects in the region such as: Project Lunker, The Ridge at Ward Branch, Dixieland Road and Dean’s Trail Phase I.
Paul’s passion for construction is homegrown. Paul grew up working in his grandpa’s rock quarries east of Springfield. That’s where he learned some of life’s best lessons; where hard work and perseverance wasn’t an option. Building a strong work ethic at an early age no doubt shaped Paul into the leader he is today.
When asked what excites him most about this opportunity, Paul said, “I’m excited to be able to see the whole picture in this role. I recognize the challenges this new position may bring, but I’m ready to dive deeper into the operations side of the company. The growth opportunities for me, our team, and this company – they are unparalleled.”
ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER
Ron Mann has been named Assistant Operations Manager. Joining Marty Hilton, Operations Manager, he will be responsible for managing all facets of field operations for the Springfield region. Ron began his career as an operator with Kennedy Contractors in 2000. When Kennedy Contractors became a part of the ESS family in 2008, Ron joined the Springfield team as a Superintendent. Over the past two decades, Ron has proven himself a dynamic leader. His ability to overcome challenges and consistently deliver work as promised is unmatched by most. Examples of his success can be seen across the region on projects such as: Rt 65 Greene Co, St. John’s – Joplin, XNA Airport, MoDOT I-44 Jasper County, Rogers Airport Runway, Springdale Airport, JRPS- City Utilities, XNA Taxiway B and SGF Taxiway U.
Ron is passionate about growing the next generation of field leaders and dedicated to building a lasting legacy. His son’s Trevor and Tyler Mann joined the ESS family this year and currently serve on a grading crew in Springfield.
When asked about what he’s looking forward to in his new role, Ron shared, “I’m looking forward to the future. We have so much opportunity to expand our brand in the Springfield region – and I’m ready to play a big part in that. I’ll do everything I can.”
