Emery Sapp and Sons (ESS) was contracted by the City of Rogers, Arkansas for the rehabilitation to Runway 2-20 at the Rogers Executive Airport. To ensure the airport was affected as little as possible, nine days was originally allotted for construction, but was later extended to ten days due to changes and additions to the work to be completed. The scope of this work included a runway overhaul, new LED lighting system, and major drainage work.
Construction included 76,000 square yards of milled surface, 67,000 square yards of asphalt paving, 5 miles of sealed crack repair, 19,000 linear feet of pavement edge drains, 6 miles of rehabilitated runway lighting circuits, and 30,000 square yards of sod placement for erosion control.
As the General Contractor, our biggest hurdle was ensuring that the airports production was impacted as little as possible. In order to do this, Emery Sapp and Sons worked 12-hour shifts around the clock for 8 days, completing this project 2 days ahead of schedule.
