This retail giant will create 300 full-time jobs at this new 1.8 million square foot distribution center in south Topeka’s Kanza Fire Commerce Park.

Scope of Work
ESS was contracted by the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company to perform all sitework and underground utilities. ESS was awarded this project for our innovative approach to the soil treatment method. Layered beneath the building site, there is a four feet Low Volume Change (LVC) section. Our team treated the onsite soils with Lime Kiln Dust (LKD) to lower the Plasticity Index of the soils and meet project specifications. This solution reduced project costs and accelerated our production schedule by weeks.
Our combined teams have been working tirelessly and we are currently on track to finish this project at or ahead of schedule. This project site is massive, coming in at 278 acres, while the building site that spans 42 acres. To ensure that we keep up with the expansive utility installation, ESS has three separate crews working in tandem to meet the aggressive project schedule.
