Greene County Route 65
MoDOT Numbers J8P0605B & J8P0605D
Springfield, MO
This project consisted of widening US 65 to a six-lane highway, with three lanes in each direction, between I-44 and US-60 in Springfield, Missouri. This project included heavy bridge construction and renovation. Demolition and construction of a new bridge over BNSF’s Thayer substation line was built in three stages in order to handle the existing traffic on US-65. Four of the seven bridges required the existing deck girder bridges be widened to accept the additional lanes. Shoring plans were designed for the placement of each of the new concrete bridge decks while allowing traffic to flow under the bridges. Two bridges were complete re-decks over BNSF’s Cuba substation lines. Two large crash walls were also constructed adjacent to the tracks at these locations.
