Projects and Production Wouldn’t Be Possible Without Our Shop Crews

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Emery Sapp and Sons (ESS)? Is it the team environment we’ve cultivated? Maybe so. What about the different scopes of work and the variety of crews that we have? Or even the pretty dang cool projects we lead and take part in? We’ll let you in on a little secret. All of the projects and production that we manage on a daily basis wouldn’t be possible without our shop crews. With a combination of all those things stated above, these employee-owners go beyond the expectations of quality to help us deliver the best of ESS, every single time.

On that note, let’s take a closer look behind the walls of our Kansas City (KC), Missouri shop location. This behind the scenes crew plays a crucial role in keeping equipment up and running to ensure that our projects within this region are delivered on time.

It’s always go, go, go. Even with winter weather rolling in and work slowing down, our shops are especially busy. This season just so happens to be the perfect down-time for equipment maintenance and repair when it’s not in use by our field folks. The KC shop crew has proven their ability to diagnose any kind of maintenance issue and deliver restored machinery with quick turnaround times. The pressure is constantly on high for all of our shops, and the KC employee-owners are certainly on their game this winter season. How do they stay on top of the demand? By having a team mindset and maintaining exceptional communication with each other.

Joe Urnise, Kansas City Shop Manager, understands the grit and perseverance it takes to run and operate a shop.

“Our people are invested not only in their job, but in the idea of employee ownership. They work as a team to improve ESS and themselves every year,” said Urnise. Now that’s what being an employee-owner is all about!”

Brad Lindsey, Equipment Manager who works in support of the KC shop, has been with us since the very beginning. He can’t say enough good things about the KC shop and the work that they produce.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this KC team. I have such a great respect for them and it’s incredible seeing how hard they work to get equipment moving and keep production running smoothly.”

Producing efficient results is nothing new to this shop crew. They’ve gotten in the groove of adapting to demanding schedules and timelines to ensure ESS always wins!

Andy Breedlove, Yard Manager, has seen how hard these employee-owners have worked and is honored to work alongside them.

“There’s pretty much always work that needs to be done and we’ve got an incredible group of employee-owners who work well together, are good at what they do and get things done efficiently. I couldn’t ask for a harder working group.”

Tyler Myers, Assistant Vice President, appreciates the perseverance these folks have had through a challenging year.

“Not only have they supported another record year of work put into place in the KC area, they have had to overcome serious supply chain issues that have significantly changed parts availability and our ability to make repairs to our fleet. These hard working technicians have had to improvise and come up with solutions on the fly to keep our crews moving. Without them, their work ethic, and ability to solve problems, we would never be able to meet our clients’ expectations.”
