SURVEY TECHNICIAN
ABOUT
The Surveying Technician will use the latest surveying technology to ensure the civil construction site is laid out according to engineering design plans.
JOB DETAILS
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Calibrate sites for GPS rovers and GPS Machine Control
- Troubleshoot GPS Machine Control
- Construction layout; storm structures, sanitary structures, water line, pavement, etc.
- Works from engineering plans to establish lines and grades for construction purposes; keep engineering notes and records of data secured
- Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities
- Provide quantity calculations as required
- Prepare documentation of surveying activities
- Coordinate surveying activities with Jobsite Superintendents
WHERE YOU WILL WORK:
The job location is in all areas as required in our geographical work area. The employee will work primarily outdoors, exposed to inclement weather, and in the proximity of biological, chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO BE A GOOD FIT:
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of survey practices and computations
- Ability to operate field equipment including Total Stations, GPS Rovers and Auto Levels
- Strong detail orientation and commitment to producing accurate information the first time
- Problem-solving/analytical skills
- Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of basic computer technology
- Strong organization and time management skills necessary to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional and courteous manner while engaging other members of the team in the field
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver license
