I recommend everyone that wants to work in the construction management or estimating fields to get experience in surveying first. I began my career at ESS in the survey department, and it allowed me to learn a lot about how the company operates and it also gave me the opportunity to build relationships with all the field management. I believe that knowledge and those relationships gave me a jump start in the project management role.
