With an outstanding 2019, we are proud to say that ESS started the 2020 year with a robust backlog. But that didn’t stop our determined teams in their relentless pursuit of projects. With outstanding efforts by a diverse group of team members, our employee-owners were awarded some stellar projects since the first of the year. It takes a tremendous amount of skill and grit to accomplish these kinds of results!

The following projects represent just a sample of work our teams look forward to building in 2020 and beyond! Combined, these featured projects total nearly $80 million of infrastructure that will be put in place.

Kansas City

Project: Topeka Non-Sort Distribution Center
Location: Topeka, KS
Lead Estimator(s):
Justin Bolsenga, Estimator
Tracy Ultican, Chief Estimator – Kansas City

Project Description

Proactively working with project stakeholders, ESS worked collaboratively with Mt. Carmel Stabilization to develop an innovative sitework approach for this 1,825,000 square foot distribution facility, maintenance building, and fueling station. To meet the project schedule for pad delivery as well as advance the balance of the project, ESS proposed the utilization of two mass grading crews. The large site grading crew anticipates moving 17,000 CY of material per day while the pad development crew works in tandem with our soil treatment partner. To perform high production fine grading, the team will utilize a Gomaco 9500 with stringless technology. This piece equipment utilizes multiple total stations tied into the site benchmarks to trim with extreme precision and consistency. The team anticipates moving more than 1,200,000 CY of earth and stabilizing 280,000 CY of building pad soils to provide the general contractor with a pad ready site in just under four (4) months!
