Date
June 2006 to March 2007
Contract Amount
$6,600,000
Project Summary
4 Miles of 36in reinforced concrete transmission water line. Includes three deep bores under Perche and Hinkson Creek that required sheet pile cofferdams and deep wells for dewatering.
Project Features
- The water line was identified as a priority need by the Columbia Water & Light Department. Until it was installed, the entire city was served by a single 36 inch water line from the water treatment plant that had been in place for almost 30 years. Without the timely completion of the second line, the city would have been facing a very real probability of mandatory water restrictions in the summer of 2007. The work involved excavation and backfilling, stream channel crossings and connecting and testing of the water line.
