Project Summary
This project will consist of new street pavement from the Mexico Gravel Road to Vandiver Drive with two new roundabouts--one at Vandiver Drive and the other at Mexico Gravel Road, and new sidewalk. The project will also include new sewer for the Upper Hinkson Creek area.
Project Features
- The sewer portion of the project consists of constructing approximately 7,300 linear feet of 36-inch gravity sewer that will parallel and replace an existing 18-inch gravity sewer line, eliminate the Mexico Gravel Road Pump Station and eliminate four sewer line siphons across Hinkson Creek.
- The total cost for this project is $6.7 million, which is funded by the Special Road District Tax, Transportation Sales Tax, ¼ cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax, 2003 Sanitary Sewer Ballot Issue, Capitol Fund Balance and Development Charges.
- The project is expected to be completed in late fall 2009. Expanding Vandiver Drive will significantly help connectivity to and from the north part of Columbia.
